ABOUT

Guitarist/vocalist looking to jam, perhaps more if the jamming is good and fun for everyone. I'm no virtuoso, but I'm solid with rhythm/lead on guitar and lead/backup on vocals. I played in acoustic groups for years back in the day, doing folk, bluegrass, flatpicked fiddle tunes, etc. I've been playing much more electric for the past several years, though my job has generally kept me too busy to do any regular playing/gigging. With the right chemistry and some common goals/expectations with other musicians, I could see making more of a commitment to practice and playing shows - or just jamming when we can, since my top priority is sharing the love and joy of music. Covers are an obvious place to start ... there are just so many great tunes to learn and play. But I'm totally open to originals, too. I've written a bunch that I think are ok, and I'm happy to learn other folks' tunes, especially if they have a nice groove.

Influences

The Jerry Garcia Band is #1 - if I could play any kind of music with a group AND play gigs, it would be a bunch of tunes and approaches that come directly from JGB. Other than that, it might be anything from Khruangbin, Rolling Stones, Wilco, Jayhawks, Peter Tosh, Uncle Tupelo, Grateful Dead, Jackson Browne, Bob Marley, Joe Jackson, Steel Pulse, Allman Brothers, XTC, U2, The Shins, Sam Bush, The Specials, Mac DeMarco, Decemberists, Ray LaMontagne, etc., etc. ... and even more generally: rock, funk, folk, bluegrass, newgrass, americana, reggae, soul, classic country, psychedelic, ska, jazz, etc., etc.
