ABOUT

Regarding myself:
Mostly an original player, but have no snobbery against covers. Have good gear, good ear, team player. Play well with other guitarists, but not really looking for a specific "two guitarist" situation at the moment unless also plays synth or other additional instrument(s) or if it is a cover band scenario.

Would be potentially interested in two different situations:
1) Creating or joining a project with musicians who might be down for creating conceptual/ metal with a dash of psychedelia. Have about 10+ songs in various stages of development. I will work with males, females, undecided, gay, straight, also undecided, whatever. What I care about is talent and being around non-douchebags.

Or
2) would consider a cover project… possibly doing classic rock/ radio rock and maintaining a gigging schedule, but it would take me a couple of months to get up to speed on learning sets since I really don’t focus on covers currently. Not a problem to learn them, just a bit of time.

Regarding originals: Don't know how to classify my current sound, but runs the gamut from Opeth, Tool, Kings X, Mastodon, Deftones, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Ozzy, Dio, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Queen, Soundgarden, etc. While (hopefully) sounding like myself.
Some songs driving, modern and aggressive, others reverb drenched, dark and ominous... others with psychedelic grooves and still others with melodic themes, happy stuff, etc. lol.
I have an acoustic stand to also go back and forth from high gain electric and light acoustic parts in songs. Great for textural dynamics that can be pulled off live.

Clip here is a rough draft of a tune "Dark" with my former band in Charlotte with the awesome Christine Navarro on vocals. This is from a few years back. I play lead and rhythm parts on it to give you an idea of my playing in a fairly commercial hard rock/ metal-ish type context. Solo kicks in around 2:29 to get a sense of my chops and tone...although my style has changed in terms of fluidity, etc. I would say my tone is more grown up nowadays (this song is a fairly old example), but yes, I can still play this tune and write things along these lines. Haha. I would say I have gotten faster with a smoother/ more balanced sound overall.

Influences

Randy Rhoads, Gary Moore, Tony Iommi, Richie Kotzen, Jeff Loomis, Jimmeez (Hendrix and Page....of course!). Eric Johnson, George Clinton, George Harrison, George Takei, Keith Richards, Zakk Wylde, Slash. The list goes on and on.

I can listen to KD Lang one second...and Yngwie Malmsteen the next. Lamb of God to Macy Gray. Gasp. So....my tastes are truly all over the place.
I (try to) play to the song...whether it needs a soft passage or a barrage of notes. The song is what is important...and I appreciate moments of brilliance from groups whether heavy and technical or simple and soft...sometimes you can say a lot with very little...other times...you gotta let it loose and give 'em the 32nd notes....:P

EQUIPMENT

Creative writing diarrhea. Lots of tunes in the embryonic stage at various points of development, but will make samples available to seriously interested parties.

Personal gear at the moment includes Ernie Ball, Charvel, PRS, LTD and Gibson guitars, Engl, Seymour and Bogner amplification, Marshall, Mesa, Ampeg and Avatar cabs. Fractal, Xotic, Line 6, Voodoo Lab, Strymon, Morley, Boss, TC and Earthquaker Pedals. It sounds good. I promise.

Not a problem to go buy new/different/etc for what the gig calls for, but my gear can handle basically any style.
