ABOUT

Hi - I'm, seeking another guitar player to play instrumental duets. While I like a huge variety of music, I think I most enjoy playing instrumental music in the style of Jim Campilongo, Julian Lage, Nels Cline...also blues-based stuff like Hendrix or Elmore James or the 3 Kings...rockabilly stuff like Scotty Moore...jazz like Wes Montgomery, etc. So I'm hoping to find someone who is interested in guitar-based music where we can strip it down and just play some interesting guitar-based duets that we choose together. If we tighten a few up, maybe play some open mics or something like that, just depends how it goes.

On my end, I am a total hobbyist. I am proficient enough to learn some of these types of songs (like Sugarfoot Rag, or That's Alright Mama, etc.), but I am self-taught. I'm just looking to find someone in this sort of in-between stage like me - skilled enough to attempt something a little more complex than bar band songs, but easy-going enough to recognize it will take a little work to make it happen (which is the fun part to me).

So if you are interested in talking more about it, you can email me to discuss more details. Please feel free, I have an old email address at : phish14850 AT yah....

Influences

Jim Campilongo, Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, Scotty Moore, Julian Lage, Elmore James, basically a ton of blues/jazz/country guitar greats, too many to list. Don't get me wrong, I love the Ramones, too, just listing those that are relevant to what I like to play.

EQUIPMENT

Two telecasters, Carr amp that is sort of a Marshall circuit but definitely has fender ability, and a boomerang looper. I also just bought a Mosrite-inspired guitar made by DiPinto to play surf music. Some other pedals and stuff like that, but generally I’m guitar-to-amp sort of player and don’t use them often. And a Martin acoustic guitar, too.
