ABOUT

Hey, y'all! I'm Alicia Michelle, "the Speakeasy Siren". Thanks for stopping by. I'm a sexy southern belle who loves to smolder while I sing. I'm an emotive free spirit who knows how to have fun and set the mood. No fuddy-duds here!

I am currently performing locally with my friend and talented saxophonist, Rick Thomas, and my amazing sound engineer husband, Don Archer. We've been gigging together as a group since 2022 and we are gearing up for warmer weather with a steady gig calendar for 2024! I'm also looking forward to releasing a debut EP and growing my band this year. I'm specifically seeking keys and upright bass right now. Please message me to inquire!

More Details About the Band:
Alicia Michelle and 'the Nightcap' are currently gigging with custom arranged backing tracks. We have been playing in smaller venues with just the three of us, but we're looking to grow with more members and hit bigger stages.

Our core repitoire is jazz standards, blues, and soul mixed in with loungey timeless songs that we all know and love from the decades past and today. We have a thing for love songs and anything that sets the mood. Our passion is breathing new life into these tunes and sharing them with our fans as if you were taken back in time...to an old smokey speakeasy with all the style, glamor, and nostalgia of the roaring 20s. Stage presence and authentic expression is important to us. This is the image we portray on stage with our unique attire and sound.

Reach out if you think we might fit your event or space - we do weddings, too. We'd love to stir your soul by sharing our gifts with you.

***We are currently auditioning new members for our band. The right people are relaxed, kind-hearted, and fun, but also work hard. We expect only what we expect from ourselves. To make our band sound it's best, we practice individually outside of our regular weekly rehearsals near Crossville, TN. This is imperative to get a polished and professional sound. We are very modern with our set up so we will only be hiring people who are willing to learn to play with our click tracks and use in ear monitors. Persons of interest: a keyboard player, upright bassist, drummer, and rhythm guitarist. Please reach out if you are interested in joining us.***

More About my Experience:
A little bit about my personal background...I started singing straight out of the womb. I began training my voice in choir throughout my school years and was in my high school's UIL award winning 'Accapella Choir' as well as performing in 'Show Choir' and going on to get awards for my solo performances at UIL competition. As a child and teen, I constantly and intentionally honed my skills by intensely studying and practicing with the aide of my karaoke machine and my favorite vocalists at the time - Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Jewel, Janet Jackson, and Madonna. I would practice emulating every note, styling, and trick, in order to form my own style. Intensive study of the vocal styling of my favorite influential artists coupled with chior/school teachings and tireless individual study, has developed the colorful, soulful vocal styling you hear from me today.

I joined my school district's concert band in the 6th grade and continued playing percussion with them throughout my high school career which included us winning the state marching band competition my freshman year! Go Indians!

Adult Experiences:
I've had the pleasure of working with a few great vocal coaches as an adult and even trained under the esteemed vocal coach, Ken Tamplin! I have a 4 and a half octave vocal range and can sing most any musical part ranging from tenor to soprano. I have been told that I am very talented. I am constantly working to be a better vocalist and very much enjoy the process of 'sharpening my sword'. I hold myself to a high standard and I'm currently enrolled in classes at the Nashville Jazz Workshop.

My favorite genres to sing are covers - jazz, lounge, blues, R&B, classic rock, and country. I also enjoy listening to and have been playing around with electronic music production and live looping. Although I am a self-taught beginner at this, I am interested in exploring it more. My husband makes electronic music and we are currently collaborating on some covers and originals in a mashup of classic and trip-hop style. I have a wide range of interests and love to sing a variety of different music genres.

If you are looking for a vocalist to be featured on your electronic tracks I'd love to hear more about your project and see if we're a good fit.

More Musical Accomplishments:
As a touring burlesque performer for 13 years, including 'Live Band Burlesque', I very much enjoyed dancing while singing. I was also the lead singer in my own lounge band back in North Texas called Velveteen Supreme. Performing with another DFW based lounge/funk/cover band called Rock, Paper, Lizard was also a career highlight for me.

Future:
I love to perform and this is my primary focus although, we've been working on an album, too. ;)

That's all for now, I guess. I'd love to collab and make some new friends. I love joining up for 'jams' or karaoke just for fun! I'm very committed to my art and I'm always excited to perform at new venues and make music with new friends so don't be shy! Please reach out to me if you're interested in making some music together!
