I moved here recently at age 33 and have been looking for a band in need of bass ever since. I've been playing piano since I was 3, bass in bands since I was 14, guitar since I was 15, and recording, producing, mastering and composing since I was 16. I have a bachelor's degree in music (cum laude), a master's degree in music composition (summa cum laude), and did a 4-year doctoral fellowship in composition/theory and computer music. I taught undergraduate theory & ear training during my Masters.

Influences:

I'll start at Genesis: I liked Jethro Tull when I was 3, KISS when I was 5, Chopin/Rachmaninov, etc., when I was 6, Led Zeppelin when I was 7, Pink Floyd when I was 8, Black Sabbath when I was 9, the Grateful Dead when I was 11, bluegrass when I was 12, Black Flag/Minor Threat/ Bad Brains, etc., when I was 13, Rush when I was 14, Yes when I was 16, Phish when I was 17, Soundgarden when I was 18, Coltrane, Indian classical... wow I'm leaving a lot of stuff out, and I still like all of that stuff. Metal: Morbid Angel, Darkane, Soilent Green, Opeth, Cynic, and too many others to name. 20th century classical too detailed to mention, except Arvo Part. Medeski Martin & Wood, Dan Reeder, Porcupine Tree, Lush, My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Tori Amos, Low, Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, Traffic, Air, Portishead, Massive Attack, Alison Krauss, Ani DiFranco, Bauhaus, Beastie Boys, Mazzy Star, Bjork, Imogen Heap, Blind Melon, Jane's Addiction, Brad, Dylan, Caribou, John Zorn, The Clash, Deerhoof, King Crimson, Cannibal Corpse, ELP, Lake Trout, Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Who, Muddy Waters.
