ABOUT

Seeking a contemporary christian band with a r&b feel for performing arts group. A winner of the 2004 Billboard Magazine World International Songwriter’s Competition Contemporary Gospel category is an emerging playwright and actress from the Star City of the South, Roanoke, Virginia. Dana began her writing career in the late eighties. Relying on her life experiences, her creative dream quickly bloomed into a fiery passion. As her talent began to take shape, it was soon recognized by many that Mrs. Pannell’s plays should be brought to life. To date, she has written and produced three gospel plays, “Resurrection,” the resurrection as seen through the eyes of Mary Magdalene, a follower of Christ, “Grace Is In The House,” a gospel play, which have won over audiences throughout Virginia. “The Mary Project,” the musical narration as seen through the eyes of the women Jesus met on his way to the cross. A gifted singer that overcame a childhood birth defect, praises God for the blessing of having gone through.

Grace, as she prefers to be called, is also an accomplished singer, director and producer. Grace’s quick wit and theatrical showmanship are ever present in her work. The characters that she creates are a kaleidoscopic blend of the African-American community, making it easily identifiable for all who are blessed with the opportunity to witness a performance. Her ability to bring her characters’ true-to-life personalities on stage are all part of the magic she creates, often leaving one with a feeling of dejavu. Grace’s keen sense and understanding of the human spirit is the reason why her work is so well-received.

She was the opening act for the 2006, 17th Annual Harrison African-American Museum’s Henry Street Festival, featuring American Idol Ruben Studdard, 2006-2007 finalist for INSP (Inspirational Channel Christian Talent Art Search), 2005 NAACP Freedom Fund Award Show for the ARTS, recipient, participant and producer of the live 2 hour commercial free broadcast. She has worked on several productions with Patricia Johnson, a national Poet/Director and Willie Gibbs, Jr., Director/Technical Director. She has also written a collaborative work with Donald Muse titled “Inheritance” a story about domestic violence. Her professional experience includes Stage Manager for the John P. Kee Gospel showcased in Lynchburg, Virginia. Dana “Grace” holds a position on the Board of Directors for Cire Publishing Company in Colesville, Maryland.
