My immediate goal on BandMix is to find musicians to build a top-notch Jazz/Funk/Alternative fusion band I can lead/co-lead, arrange and sing with for classy events, corporate gigs, private parties, and wedding receptions on a consistent basis (mainly weekends, preferably) in the greater L.A. area.

Innovative arrangements are a must. Repertoire may include a range of popular and obscure tunes, across a span of genres, but done our way, jazzy, funky, and dance-inducing. High-quality content is a must; no irreverent, over-sexualized, or profane material.

The longer-term goal is to develop working relationships for collaboration, writing, and producing original music that can get worked into our sets when the occasions are appropriate. Producing media and promotional material, the whole 9 yards.

About me:
L.A. native bilingual Latina with 20+ years of experience performing, singing/songwriting, studio session singing, participating in bands, and public speaking. Currently finishing my undergrad at Biola U in La Mirada, CA as a Music major with an emphasis in Commercial Music - songwriting, arranging, and band leading.

Influences

To mention a few, my influences include everything from Lauryn Hill to Weezer, Bjork, Sublime, Queen, B-52s, The Strokes, The Whites Stripes, etc. I also have a soft spot for Latino music: Afro-Jazz, Salsa, Cumbia, and Boleros, like Celso Pena, Hector Lavoe, Los Panchos, and Eydie Gorme. John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone, and Miles Davis of course, are some of the great jazzers that inspire me. And other current artists on recent rotation include FKJ, Lianna La Havas, and Khruangbin.
