ABOUT

I've played in big (20+ piece) bands, R&B, Funk/Soul, Jazz, Motown, Classic Rock, Surf Rock bands, as well as upright bass in orchestras. I sight read music (not tablature) and have a fairly decent library of charts of standard tunes on my iPad. Styles include fingerstyle, pop/slap, rik-a-tik (pick style, typical of country and early 60s Surf). I might not know every song ever written, but I'll eventually figure it out. I'll play any music as long as it's done well and people enjoy dancing to it. I'm looking for an established band, or will form one with people that are disciplined and can agree on a focus. I'm not into originals and not interested in yet another "classic rock" band - I think this town's got too many already, and most of them are pretty good.
Latest project is retro 60's Surf Rock tribute, "Group Captain & The Mandrakes (.gcmband)." I'd be delighted to get back into funk.
