Mature and literate (Berklee) piano-based singer/songwriter. I've done plenty of sideman work too, and quite a bit of arranging and producing. Have a nice studio in Oakland. Recently wrote and produced an album with my defunct band 'Young Has Beens'. Spotify or to listen. I've played lots of other stuff in the past. Special talent for Gospel/Blues/Orleans-funk piano and outside improv. I have recorded and performed a LOT. When I'm on a creative roll, I write prolifically. When I'm not, I listen prolifically and play, play, play.

Grew up on 70's pop radio. Went through the following listening phases beginning in late elementary school onward: Romantic, Classical, and Baroque Classical; 70's Pop; 70's Prog; 70's Classic Rock; More 70's Classic Rock; 70's into 80's New Wave; 70's into 80's into 90's punk rock; New Romantic Britpop; Grunge; Postwar Bop; Prewar Jazz and Ragtime Blues; Reggae (particularly dub); Prewar Big Band Pop; Postwar Big Band Pop; 20th Century Classical; Avant Garde Classical; Avant Garde Jazz; Bluegrass & Delta Blues; Chicago Blues; Traditional Non-Western Traditions; Major Label Collapse Fallout and Rebirth (Continues to this day). TOM WAITS. RADIOHEAD. GRIZZLY BEAR. ARCADE FIRE (the band I hate to love). And on, and on. I do NOT listen to the same thing over and over, no matter how much I love it, and neither should you.
