B.J. Kyle is one of the most dynamic up and coming entertainers you would ever want to meet. He has been the opening act for such greats as Steve Wariner, Shenandoah, The Oak Ridge Boys, Tracy Lawrence, and Sammy Kershaw. Though he is comfortable with many styles of music, his leanings have always been toward the progressive country, and oldies Rock & Roll.
B.J. began his entertainment career at a very early age. He performed on stage the first time at age seven. He became the full time keyboardist for an adult country band at age eight. He performed four seasons in Branson, MO and was the music director, keyboardist, and utility(whatever needs to be played or sung) guy for two of the shows. He left Branson after his fourth season to complete his High School and College Education.
B.J. was awarded a scholarship to “Ouachita Baptist University.” He was offered the choice of either a vocal performance, or piano performance principal course of study. Although he started out as a piano performance major, he realized that the vocal performance was where he really wanted to go. As a music major, participation in the “Concert Choir” and one Ensemble was required. He was a member of the “Ouachita Jazz Band (pianist)”, “Ouachita Singers”, and “Ouachita Sounds.” The last two groups being auditioned members of touring groups that literally toured around the world, in such places as Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, China, and even a cruise ship to the Bahamas.
B.J. is an award-winning vocalist who has competed and won several national and international competitions. One of the more prestigious awards was won when he participated in a NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) competition. This is a contest where vocal professors from all the major universities in the Southern region including LSU, University of Arkansas, Arkansas Tech and others choose their best students, and enter them in this competition. B.J. placed first in this competition. (Performing an Italian Opera if you can believe it. Not bad for a Country singer.)
Currently, B.J. has completed his college course requirements, and graduated from “Ouachita Baptist University” in December ’03 with a B.A. Degree in Music, and a minor in Speech communications. He has performed at the “Cowboy Church of Hot Springs, Arkansas,” as well as other venues throughout the state. He has also been a special guest at “Cowboy Church of Nashville, TN.”
B.J. plays many different instruments, and utilizes his many talents on stage regularly.
He is accomplished on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, bass guitar, upright bass and is considered by many among the best keyboardist in the world. He has done studio work while performing in Branson, MO and has even laid down tracks for a made for TV pilot show. B.J. is familiar with most recording formats, both digital, and analog. His talents in composition allow him to write music to difficult original lyrics, usually within minutes. He also makes this project easier for other band members by providing excellent detailed charts that are easy to work with.
He recently recorded four songs in Nashville, TN two of which went out for airplay on the Midland records radio sampler. The songs, “Get Up Dow Jones”, and “Put Your Head On My Shoulder”, have made the play lists on many independent stations throughout the Eastern half of the nation, as well as International Stations.
B.J. recently relocated to the Nashville area from Branson, MO where he had performed on the “Shoji Tabuchi Show”. During the preparation of this years show, he received excellent reviews from the New York Choreographer.
