ABOUT

My name is Chris, and I have have been writing and performing my own original songs for a while now. But I feel like my music could be so much better if I filled it in with some more musicians. I do play covers, but the focus is to make it as an original artist. Right now, I sing and play the acoustic guitar, and while it is good for coffee houses and small shows, it just isn't full enough to be a headlining gig at a major venue. I have written parts for a second acoustic guitar on most my songs and also vocal harmonies on most of my songs. Some of my songs also have parts for a cello and piano. Even though I have already written most of the material, I totally would love creative input from whoever I find! Nothing is set in stone. (I would be ecstatic if I could find someone that knows how to blend an acoustic sound with a full band and not have it all just be drowned out by too much gain! Because that is something I have no been successful at figuring out, lol)

The music style I play is acoustic/pop-ish. you can listen to a couple of my rough recordings at ./captainromantic. There are SO many metal/hardcore/rock bands every where in Colorado, and it has been extremely hard finding people that share the passion I have for my style of music.

I am looking for:
a male or female vocalist/acoustic guitar or piano player (i would prefer to knock two of those parts out with one person so that I don't have a ridiculous number of people in my group lol)
a drummer
a bass player or cello player

I have gone through so many bands that just didn't take anything very seriously or weren't very good, and so I feel like I need to be extra picky this time around at forming a band that really has what it takes to do this for a living. It is what I want to do. Even though I am going to be extra picky when choosing who I want to play with, I am very laid back and not someone that is going to sit there and pick you apart. I can tell if someone is musically inclined, and I make mistakes all the time, so don't feel intimidated or anything like that. I have already had two people bail on meeting me because they were too nervous. I'm easy to get along with. And also, after reading this post back to myself, I worry that it will come across as kind of arrogant. I promise I'm not! I just know what I am looking for. By no means do I think I am better than anyone, and I hope to find a group of people who all are better than me! (although it would be a little embarrassing to be the weakest link in my own band, haha)
