ABOUT

Chima Enwere (Nigerian-American) was California-born and North Carolina-raised. He earned his Master of Music degree with a specialization in Keyboard Performance Specialist & Pedagogy from East Carolina University (ECU). His graduate studies encompassed three key areas: collaborative piano, piano performance, and organ. Throughout this journey, Chima was fortunate to learn from esteemed instructors, including Drs. Catherine Garner and John O'Brien (piano), Andrew Scanlon and David Arcus (organ), and Paola Savvidou (pedagogy).

In addition to his master's degree, Chima holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Music Industry Emphasis—Jazz & Commercial Track from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). He's also equipped with a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the UNCP School of Business, further enriching his skill set. During his undergraduate years at UNCP, he honed his musical talents under the mentorship of Drs. Jon and Beth Maisonpierre and Dr. Seung-Ah Kim.

Chima's diverse training has equipped him with a wealth of experience across various performance settings. In his 20+ years of playing, he has showcased his talents as a solo pianist, collaborative pianist, pit musician in musicals, marching band keyboardist, jazz ensemble/combo pianist, church keyboardist/organist, and chamber ensemble member. His music has resonated across the United States, Puerto Rico, Europe, and at renowned venues, including Disney World and Carowinds. During his senior year of undergraduate studies, he had the honor of performing with the UNCP Wind Ensemble, emerging as one of the winners of the annual UNCP Concerto Competition.

In the summer of 2023, Chima achieved recognition with an Honorable Mention in the Graduate & Professional Division of the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano International Competition. His journey in music was significantly supported through the Live Más Scholarship from The Taco Bell Foundation, which he was awarded in 2017. This scholarship has continued to back his academic pursuits, granting him a total of four scholarships. His musical talent has even graced the stage as an opening act for Katy Perry during a performance for Taco Bell.

Currently, Chima serves as an adjunct instructor and collaborative pianist at Fayetteville Technical Community College, an adjunct instructor at Manna University, and holds the roles of music director, pianist, and organist at a local church. He is an active member of the Fayetteville Piano Teachers’ Association (FPTA), a dedicated group of piano educators fostering the cultural and artistic aspirations of the community. This organization actively hosts various events, including student competitions, festivals, recitals, and masterclasses. Chima is also a member of the Music Teachers National Association.
