We're a band called Late Calling (website at latecalling.com). We're looking for a competent, nice & reliable singer who wants to get out to the bars and kick it out as a band!

We're pretty good and like our music (all cover tunes plus a few originals on the back burner). We all get along and have a fantastic time at practices and shows. I've always enjoyed playing with LC. Of the 60 or so songs we’ve gone through in the past only 4 potential ones didn’t make it so that’s good!

We'd like a singer who can sing well and enjoys singing! Also, we've found bands stay together if they live fairly close (eliminating long commutes to practice ). We practice in Carol Stream and Franklin Park. More often in Carol Stream where there’s always a drum kit set up.

What we're looking for: To get another singer who has no ego, no trips, just sings the tunes and have a good time! If you are the one we'll get a gig in a month or two. Depends on how fast you can learn the songs.

Attributes: We all have day jobs and bring our music together at practices. I'd be shocked if you find a more down-to-Earth band. When I joined I was astounded (and quite happy) that it could be this fun and easy.

We send one another the MP3 and electronic file of the lyrics/song structure/chords and show up to practice. It's great! We practice on our own time and run through the set list. Sure, we toss in some new songs or oddities and it's all good. We are a no-pressure band but we get stuff done. All it takes is a call and a bit of talking to get this thing moving.

Final thoughts: I know it's a pain in the rear for bands to find the "right" person to fill a slot. You may find jerks, egomaniacs, slobs, or idiots who may be great players but you just don't want to be around 'em. You want to find people near where you live, people in your own age group, and people who have similar ideas about music. All great but that's a rarity. Usually some sort of compromise must be made.

I’ve had to learn/play plenty of songs I never liked simply because crowds liked them. I know I defined the scope in the title of this as “rock” band. To me that can stretch from some mellower stuff to AC/DC. Just to put it out there: We don't do jazz or country.
