ABOUT

In the 1980s, Hairston recorded and released several celebrated hits for Atlantic Records and Pretty Pearl Productions, the record company owned by NBA Hall of Fame Legend Earl "The Pearl" Monroe. Positively received by critics and public alike, Curtis recorded several hits in his solo career as well as with the soul funk group, BB&Q Band.

Over the course of his tragically short life and career, Hairston’s voice affected all who came to hear him sing. A gifted performer, he sang at several high political functions, including for social events for the Kennedy family and two presidents. While well received in the United States, Curtis Hairston was particularly renowned overseas, performing widely across Europe and Asia.

Those who were closest to Curtis have said that he had always known who he was and what he wanted to be. A boy who started singing in church at 3 years old, Curtis became a man whose kindness and enthusiasm was compelling and captivating; a man who loved to share his talents and gifts with the world.

In commemoration of his life and music and released concurrently with what would have been his 50th birthday, Reverse Spin proudly presents the long awaited tribute album “Celebrating Curtis Hairston”.
