Darling Sinister formed in late 2001. Since then the band has been hard at work making a name for themselves in the Austin music scene. Having spawned from such local bands as Girl in a Box, The Jocks, Mr. Brown, Fondue and Groove Tongue, the members come from a rather extensive background of music, covering many genres. The band’s main mission is to breathe new life into a scene that has grown stale with repetition by getting their music out to the masses with an intense calendar of live shows. The current lineup consists of Jeannie Stone on vocals, Shaun Tenberg and John Deleon on guitars, Zach Meldrum on Bass, and Luke Pierce on the Drums. Together, the sounds they produce are a supercharged experiential journey through the entire spectrum of human emotion. Sweet, powerful and beautifully brutal, their sound is truly unique.
The band’s first official release with the current lineup was a 5 song CDEP in the summer of 2003. This collection featured some of the first songs ever written by the band. To date Darling Sinister has sold and self distributed over 1500 copies of the EP with some copies reaching as far as the Netherlands, Brazil, Great Britain and Germany. The response to the EP gave the band a reason to believe that perhaps they were on to something! Since then the band has been playing nonstop shows in the South Texas area covering the cities of Austin, Houston, Dallas, Arlington, San Marcos, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Burnet, Seguin, New Braunfels, Laredo and even Mexico!
Darling Sinister are currently in the studio writing and recording a full length follow up to 2003’s 5 song EP. The newer material is much heavier, melodic, dynamic and incredibly focused. The band is currently trying to book shows outside the Texas area to continue hitting new cities and new faces. You can anticipate this next Summer to be a busy one with a hectic touring schedule as Darling Sinister continues to reach the masses! It’s time for new noise. Are you ready?
