A native of Boston, Dave Hertz began drumming in 1982 at the age of eleven. He moved to Tampa Bay in 1999 three years after earning his Bachelor's degree in music from a prestigious New England college. He has been the pulse of various bands throughout the Boston and Tampa areas including There, Ground Zero, Continuum (Rush tribute band), Fall 2 Earth and The Jerry LaCoille Band. He has shared the stage with Milford Graves, Peter Golub and Allen Shawn, among other innovative composers and performers. In December 1995, jazz great Milford Graves said: "He has been an inspiring contributor to this ensemble. His ability to tastefully improvise and construct various rhythm patterns...has been good. He was very sensitive to the needs of [and] he provided the thrust to this ensemble...I am really impressed with his ability...." In addition to being a drummer and backing vocalist, his vast musical resume includes studio and live recording/mixing/mastering experience and in 1993, he performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. His wide-ranging influences include everything from the classic rock of Rush, Led Zeppelin, U2 and The Police to the alternative rock of Tonic, Tool, Sixx:A.M. and the Foo Fighters. He is a Pro-Mark Certified Product Specialist and is a member of the American Federation of Musicians Tampa Bay Local 427-721.
