ABOUT

I am retired, & relatively new to Riverview, FL.. I learned to play guitar on folk music & played rhythm guitar in popular cover band from 65 - 70. Since then it's been mostly blues jams & worship bands.

Now I have a vision for a band I'd want to call, "The Love Drunks" that will play feel good music that builds people up. That would include danceable soul music, love songs, humorous, ironic, politically-incorrect, double-entendre, overcoming & underdog songs from blues, rock 'n' roll, country & Americana music.

Examples might be "Higher Love" by Steve Winwood, "(Bend Over Let Me See Ya) Shake Your Tailfeather" by James & Bobby Purify, "Wagon Wheel" by the Old Crow Medicine Show, "Levelland" by James McMurtry, "You are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker, "Johnny Be Goode" by Chuck Berry, etc.

BTW, there are many, many, many beautifully-written, heart-wrenchingly sad songs out there I appreciate. They can be cathartic of course, but I don't want to be putting them out into the atmosphere unless there's a turnaround of the darker emotions before the end of the song. I don't want us to be found triggering anybody's depression.

I don't have a sound system, & I don't have anybody with me yet, but the people I'm looking for will generally be peacemakers & lovers who are spiritual without being religious. I would probably play a rhythm or acoustic guitar when needed, & I might not even need to play in which case I could probably serve as a manager, booking agent, etc.

If your heart resonates with this vision you can contact me through Bandmix or emailing to [email protected]. All the best & much love.

EQUIPMENT

I have tools to do my own setups & have a 5-String (Low-B) Jay Turser Modulus Graphite shaped bass to which I have added some active EMG's & a Plum Crazy (Dodge metallic purple) paint job. Also a 4x10 Hartke cab, QSC RMX 850 power amp, & a Line6 Bass Pod I use as a pre-amp. Also I have a West German Harley Benton 335 clone, & an old beat up, seasoned FG 310 Yamaha acoustic.

I sure would like to still have the Gibson 335 & Rickenbacher 360 12-string I played in the 60's, but I've had to make do & family of 5 children & 10 grandchildren has always been my priority.
