ABOUT

Moved to Bolivia, NC in August 2021. Looking to form or join a band. I’ve been playing some form of keyboard since I was 8 years old. Most of that time revolved around church, worship-type music, but I jumped into the blues around 2007. My wife and I moved to the Dominican Republic in 2011. That is where I met Retah Burton, a blues singer from Denmark. I had the honor of being her keyboardist for five years until she passed away. I then began working out my own style and putting together musicians to play occasionally in Santiago, DR. In addition to working with Retah, I also had the opportunity to play with some of the island’s top jazz musicians every week performing everything from jazz standards to modern classics. Most recently, I have been the music director for a 5-piece jazz group in Orlando, Florida, as well as the keyboardist for an R&B group. I am looking for a Blues and/or Jazz group to join or even just a group of friends to jam with. I prefer being a backup vocalist, but have strong experience being a lead vocalist.

Influences

I started my blues career with a few guys in Pennsylvania. SRV, Santana, Freddy King, Albert King, B.B. King, Albert Collins, Michael Burks, Gary Moore, Robben Ford, Koko Taylor, and Tab Benoit are on my current play list. John Medeski, Jimmy Smith and Dr. Lonnie Smith are B-3 artists that I love to listen to. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Antonio-Carlos Jobim, Charlie Parker, and Wayne Shorter are a few of my favorite composers.

EQUIPMENT

Hammond SK2 as well as running a Kurzweil KM88 to a MacBook Pro with Mainstage. Plugins include Native Instruments Kontakt with Noire, The Grandeur, and Scarbee’s EP-88S. I have my own Center Point stereo monitor, in-ears, direct box, and necessary cables.
