Anja Dick and the Girthquakes! - Not your regular band.
I'm a live-singing drag entertainer and stand-up comedian in the DMV area looking to put together a band for a live-music variety show for weddings, festivals, theater bookings, and private events. I've done hundreds of shows in the past 5 years, but have mostly relied on backing tracks or a pianist. I'm ready for larger venues and a full band.
I'm serious about singing, but use it for comedy and commentary. "Anja Dick and the Girthquakes" is not just a party band meant to keep the audience dancing, it's a stage show. We'll do many of the popular party cover songs, but also originals, broadway, and parodies. Additionally, I'll do stand-up comedy between songs as well as audience participation games and contests, and comedy bits.
I'm looking for drums, lead guitar, and keys. Big bonus points for backing vocals, harmonies, and theater experience. If you don't have a sense of humor about the world, yourself, and music, we probably won't be a good match.
