Edison's Children is a haunting sci-fi symphonic rock band which explores the supernatural and unexplained in concept albums and progressive rock aka Prog Rock. We have 5 full albums and 2 EPs out already and feature many famous prominent members.

The "Ancient Aliens" show and NASA are very much into our parent band Marillion and their sci-fi American side project Edison's Children (which is us). As such, we are working on our 2nd Extra-terrestrial based concept that is very much along the Pink Floyd meets Tool/APC/Puscifer meets Nick Cave neo-prog musical boundaries.

WE ARE SEEKING A YOUNG AND HUNGRY (POSSIBLE FEMALE) VIOLINIST (or other bowed instrument) WHO CAN BE OUR CARINA ROUND/WARREN ELLIS - who can sing higher notes and maybe play some other instruments as well as Violin.

WE ARE TIRED OF PRO MUSICIANS WHO JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY! SO PLEASE DON'T BE SCARED OFF by the fact that we are a well established neo-progressive rock band. If you can rock the Violin/Viola or Cello and think you have something to offer, we will absolutely give you a listen!

IN FACT WE WOULD PREFER SOMEONE WHO IS A NEW UP AND COMING MUSICIAN rather than an established player!.

Especially someone in the NEPA / Southern Tier region of NY and PA border area so that we can practice often and play acoustic sets along with our full band experience.
We do mostly originals but would consider Pink Floyd and some MJK (Maynard James Keenan of Tool / APC / Puscifer / Sessanta) songs or Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds or Asia / Styx / Kansas / Queensryche / Re-worked Acoustic Metal and some fun stuff along with our own recordings which are over 150 songs deep.

We have all sorts of possible gigs. Many need more "acoustic acts" so that it is a scaled down version of our very epic 130 track albums.

Again, we are looking for a replacement for the violinist we planned to use, who was asked to join Kansas full time. Due to this... we are NOT looking to replace him as he's irreplicable. Members Of Band

Edison's Children is a multi-continental band with members of Marillion and prominent children (not of Edison) but Astronauts of the Apollo space program. The violinist we were planning on using for gigs has joined the rock band Kansas (aka Dust In The Wind) so we need someone preferably close to the NEPA (Scranton Carbondale, Lake Wallenpaupack region) to work with.

That said DON'T BE SCARED OFF! If you can rock the VIOLIN OR CELLO but think you are too young and inexperienced, you are probably what we are looking for. We are tired of people who are just in it for the $ because we certainly aren't.

We would love to hear from you. Maybe you can be the next big name without having to move to L.A. or NYC or London to become it.

WE WOULD ACTUALLY RATHER WORK WITH A GOOD HUNGRY YOUNG UP AND COMING ARTIST THAT IS NOT AS EXPERIENCED THAN JUST ANOTHER MUSICIAN WHO WANTS TO USE US TO BE A MONEY MAKING/JUMPING POINT IN THEIR CAREER.

There isn't much money anymore to be made in touring. especially us since Edison's Children comes from all over the world and whatever the band makes goes into travel costs or Visas etc..

Please be in it because you love it so much... that's all we want. We may have been at this a long time and played all over the world but we want someone who just wants to have a blast on stage playing this intense epic music than someone who will only book gigs based on how much we're making that day.

In a perfect world, a young female who can play the violin well enough to perform our more symphonic pieces and come up with unique ideas who can hit some high notes and be our "Carina Round / Warren Ellis" and maybe play keys or guitar enough to fill in gaps when the Violin isn't being used.
