ABOUT

My Musical Biography:

To those who don’t know me, please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Eladio Paul Aguilar. I’ve been in the music industry just about all of my life, since I was in elementary school. My musical engagement spans over 23 years (I've lost count), and I have to admit, I’ve loved it.

I have had the pleasure of performing in many different settings from big bands to orchestras to fanfare ensembles to weddings, the majority of them being in the Los Angeles area. I've had the honor in participating in church weddings, special events, and was a member the Regiment Of The Light (ROTL) band (principle chair) including two tours, one throughout California and the other, throughout the Pacific Northwest. I’ve performed internationally in our neighboring country, Mexico. I’ve played for many dances, for the military (including a one star general, a POW [of 42 months], and a “live” audience of at least 5,000 military personnel, of which I sight read for [they themselves being unaware of that] a musical [which turned out quite well, by the way]), and I’ve performed "live” over the radio/television several times, specifically throughout all the area of Kern County in California. I'm in the Guinness Book of World Records for being in the world’s largest marching band performed live at the Dodger’s stadium. I’ve had the honor of playing with celebrated musicians such as Barry White’s guitar player and Danny Kaye, amongst a select few. I’ve performed "live" jazz concerts in restaurants and have done some studio work. I’ve also performed in pit orchestras, either as lead / second trumpet player, for many well-known musicals such as the Sound of Music, Winter Wonderland, The Music Man, and the like, with the Arise Academy Performing Arts Orchestra, also based in California.

I have had the honor of learning from the best in Los Angeles, California, and am currently located in picturesque Albuquerque. My education (in music) includes, but is not limited to, some college study in music theory and composition, orchestra and jazz bands, and piano (“Keyboard”). I was taught under the methodology of Herbert L. Clarke and Claude Gordon in the arts of playing the trumpet. (They are two renown trumpet players that have helped MANY trumpet players achieve their goals.) I’ve studied privately, off and on, for several years under Glenn T. Colangelo, a long-time student of Claude Gordon, and then I continued my studies more extensively and privately for years under the renowned Prof. David B. Evans (Brass Instructor at Cal State Long Beach, former Brass Instructor at Azusa Pacific University, Former Principal Trumpet Player of the Chapman Symphony, Trumpet Section Member of the LA Philharmonic Orchestra, Trumpet Soloist, and 13 plus years student of the famous Claude Gordon); Prof. Evans is considered to be the best brass educator, by his peers.

I've taught music in the following roles. I have instructed publicly in the high schools for two years as a brass instructor / band director's assistant, instructed at band camps (incl., the assignment of trumpet chairs), and privately taught for several years up to the present-time. Also, I had the recent privilege of substitute-teaching for the following music teachers: Orchestra Director, Choir Directors, Guitar Teachers, Keyboard and Beginning Music Instructors, Beginning and Intermediate Percussion Teacher, Recorder Teacher, Theory Instructor, etcetera. I've had my own group brass instrument classes in a large, well-known music store, as well as teaching privately in a few Los Angeles based music centers.

I leave you with the following interesting factoids to contemplate. Success is taught by the successful, and as you know, success leaves clues, so when you are taught by the best, it is inevitable that you become the best!

For a sample of my work (recorded without accompaniment), please download at the base of this page the Wedding Fanfare I performed in the county of Los Angeles, California. I'm available for weddings, special events, studio recording(s), and/or concerts, and of course, I'm available for private/public instruction. I love teaching, use positive reinforcement, and more importantly, will help you AVOID many pitfalls along your beautiful journey of making music.
