Our 3 piece band is losing the drummer due to extraneous circumstances, so we're looking for a new drummer to join the group. We're a relatively new band with some big unique ideas, and we believe that, with some hard work and dedication, we can get our slice of the pie in the music industry. We just need a drummer that is dedicated, talented, and open minded to trying different kinds of music.
Right now, we're working on a concept album that is best described as (for lack of a better term) "middle-eastern metal". We use our own made up tunings for the bass guitar and the electric guitar that makes everything sound middle eastern, and then we run it through distortion and amps to make it heavy. As a result, most of the songs are heavy but have a groove that you can move to, which makes for some unique and interesting music. However, after this concept album is finished, we will probably start working with other different styles of music, wherever our inspirations take us, so we're looking for a drummer that is versatile and comfortable with all the pieces of a drum set, especially the toms. You have to have a really good sense of rhythm, because some of the beats are a little more groovy and less "rock and roll". You need to be an open minded musician that can listen and appreciate all types of music; the two of us do, so the less narrow-minded you are, the more chemistry we will have.
Because we've already been working on music, I'd hope that you would be willing to just take instructions and learn the songs we've already written. But once we get to newer material, you're totally welcome to make your creative contributions to the band. Right now we practice all together about once a week, but if things pick up then we'd probably meet more often. We do practice on our own throughout the week and I tend to make recordings and send them to the band to listen to to prepare for the next practice etc.
The bass player and I are in our mid-twenties, and we practice at my parent's house right now in fairlawn (if you have practice space, then that'd be awesome, but if not we can keep practicing at my parent's house).
