Greetings! I am in the process of putting together an Irish/World Fusion project and figured I would cast a net here to see what can happen.
The premise of the project is to use traditional Irish music as a base and fuse it with R&B,funk, rock, jazz, latin, afro/cuban, etc. to create a new and unique sound.
I play a full drumset and have already started composing drum parts to traditional Irish tunes in the practice studio and the results have been incredible. I also have an extensive percussion set up. I have learned multiple songs on the Irish whistle as well, and sing lead and backup vocals.
I currently have:
A bass player learning songs, who also has extensive experience playing guitar, drums, and vocals
A very experienced guitar and mandolin player and vocalist
A newly contacted experienced violinist
A potential accordion player with vocal and Irish whistle experience
Looking For: Pipe, flute, and whistle players, possible lead guitarist that wants to learn and shred jigs and reels, multi instrumentalists that can sing harmonies, keys, percussionist, even a second full time kit drummer, etc.
If you are proficient in your instrument, any instrument is welcome really, and want to make this kind of music with it, I’m interested!
I think it would be great to get someone who knows how to play woodwinds to join in the fray.
I can send you a list of songs to listen to and learn if you’re interested. Currently I’m working with about 50 songs in all, so plenty to sort through together and cherry pick what we want to play.
I have lofty goals for this project, as well as the resources to brand and promote this project extensively. I also have a nice big practice/rehearsal studio in Belgrade that could hold 8 people.
If this project takes off I can offer paid rehearsals as well.
