I'm forming a melodic rock* band called "hanami no ongaku." It's going to incorporate aspects of traditional Japanese music (the instruments, scales, and overall feel) and have a lot of mellow parts that convey a wistful, haunting mood. I'm 20 years old; I sing, write music/lyrics, play piano/koto (see picture) and am looking for a creative songwriter (preferably a guitarist) close to my age who will work with me on composing the music and who would have fun dedicating his or her life to writing, recording, and touring.

*along the lines of these albums: Merveilles and Memoire by Malice Mizer; MARS and Crescent by Gackt; and Absolution by Muse.

Influences:

Most of the songs I write are influenced by the feelings I get from nature or from certain movies, anime, or books. However, some definite musical influences are: the background music of Inuyasha (and various other anime/movies), MALICE MIZER (except with a traditional Japanese feel instead of a French one), Gackt, "Disintegration" by The Cure, and many more...

Lyrically, I'm inspired by Japanese poetry and Romantic poets such as John Keats, Percy Shelley, and Wordsworth.

Equipment List:

Koto (a traditional Japanese instrument that's sort of like a zither - 6 ft, 13 strings, made out of lightweight paulownia)

PA system, including:
SAMSON XM910 900 Watt Head
2 CRATE Audio 800W PE15 Speakers
Monitor (Wharfedale Pro Model No. VS-12M)
Microphones
Etc.
