ABOUT

Hi,

I'm a singer/guitar player/multi instrumentalist into combining organic indie post rock/pop with electronics, loops, beats and experimentation, while still retaining a focus on SONGS, currently
working with two multi instrumentalists doing bass, keys, guitar and Ableton Live triggered
samples and sound design, looking for a good drummer into at least some the below :

Sort of a mix of Sonic Youth, Spaghetti Western music, Johnny Cash,
Low, Mazzy Star, Oval, Devotchka, Broken Social Scene, Liars, Television,
Blonde Redhead, Band of Horses, Boards of Canada, Dirty Three, crooners, My Bloody Valentine, Ratatat, DJ Spooky, Sparklehorse, Radiohead, Cat Power, Joseph Arthur, electro, Autechre, Battles, Steve Reich, Portishead, John Adams, Joy Division, space music, shoe gaze, minimalist music, slow core, ambient, Leonard Cohen, Swans, drum and bass, math rock, strong melodies, GOOD Jazz, strings, theremins, the saw, music like David Lynch doing weird spooky 50's ballads, Glenn Branca, kaoss pads, Ableton Live, Fender Jaguars, Jazzmasters, vintage Fender Twin Revers, pedal boards like something out of NASA, hollow body swing guitars, Ennio Moriconne, Roland Space Echos, Love 666, (old) Jesus and Mary Chain, Death By Audio, Velvet Underground, Gibson ES 335s, sound design, dub, The Chameleons, Mogwai, delta blues from the 20's and 30's, but mashed up and remixed, so to speak, into something original - if that's possible at this point in music - and
accessible as well even - mainly ;)

A nice marriage of "gritty/dirty" organic and other worldly digital sounds - Heart and hard drives ;)

I've been making my living as a professional guitar player/laptopist/remixer, sound designer, etc, for a good while now without doing my own thing outside of work and now it's time to make that not the case again, so I'm looking for like minded, skilled, creative, exceptional and
nice people to collaborate and be in a band with and take it from there.

I have a lot of nice gear - guitars, amps, fx, electronic music oriented gear, etc.
REALLY nice gear - which keeps everything sounding nice. I know folks, have a decent network of said folks, from work, doing music for my living, etc, etc.

This will give you some idea of where I'm at and where I'm coming from musically, but isn't nearly representative of "the full scope" :

From the last band, a couple of self produced demo tracks (Nick Petrie, the drummer of Beirut played on one of them) and a live track here : s:///the-wild-blue-yonder

Just to give you an idea.

Two places to hear a couple of remixes and work for clients, etc, just to throw in there for you to check out as well if you'd like :

Let me know if it's something you'd be interested in being involved in, the stuff in particular. The client work above is mainly just meant to flesh things out and give a fuller
picture of what I'm about and what I can do, and can bring to the table.

If interested, please tell me something about yourself as well, credits, range of
styles and abilities, what you yourself are into doing as a drummer, what makes you happy as a drummer, if you can keep it interesting while driving and danceable and sometimes poly rhythmic (not proggy), noisy, improvisational,
free from, and also simple grooving and simple delicate/involved but tasteful delicate as well.

That would be PERFECT.

(Please include samples of your drumming in your response.)

Thanks and all the best,
J
