ABOUT

I'm currently in a punk rock band called The Catastrophes. I'm primarily a guitarist but have recently switched to playing bass whenever the band plays as a trio. I'm having a ton of fun with it but I'm also looking to start/join a band where I can 1) get back to playing guitar as my main instrument and 2) lean more into my own musical influences.

I'm no shredder by any means but I can hold down a rhythm and would rather come up with hooky riffs than blazing guitar solos anyway. I'm very much a pop punk guy, but I grew up listening to Springsteen and a lot of 90s country radio, so I'm into a lot of different styles of music. Basically if there's a cranked up guitar on it, I'm interested.

Influences

As different as they are, the two records that made me want to pick up guitar were John Mayer's Room For Squares and Alice In Chains' Dirt. I mentioned pop punk above and if you've ever been to an Emo Nite event, those songs will give you a pretty solid idea of where I'm coming from, musically.

Beyond just pop punk though, I can't quite figure out what it is but there's something about the sound of rock records from the 90's and 2000's that I love. Here are some artists that have had a major impact on me:
- The Gaslight Anthem
- Linkin Park
- Lifehouse
- Mayday Parade
- Jimmy Eat World
- Knuckle Puck
- Fall Out Boy
- The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
- Every Avenue
