JC, was born in San Diego, California were music was always a big part of his life. His professional debut as a solo guitarist and vocalist occurred in 1967, performing in a folk rock concert series in Balboa Park, San Diego. Early in his career, JC developed a dynamic finger picking style, and began collaborating with several singer songwriters and performing musicians across the country. These early mentors were destined to become major recording artists, and dramatically influenced JC’s playing, singing, and writing style. JC is one of those rare individuals, who has a natural ear, and delivers his heartfelt ballads and music from the depths of his soul.
In the fall of 1968 while performing on a college circuit, JC met Jim Croce and his wife Ingrid. JC, impressed with Jim’s original writing ability, and his street style music, performed with Croce in clubs throughout Philadelphia, and Greenwich Village (N.Y.) through the end of 1969. JC has performed Croce’s songs as a part of his repertoire ever since, as a tribute to one of acoustic folk rock’s greatest singer songwriters.
In the winter of 1969, Croce introduced JC to a friend of his, J.T. (James Taylor). James was playing an engagement in N. Carolina, and invited JC to sit in with him. Finding their vocals, and picking styles blended so well, James asked JC to work with him, to lay down instrument and vocal tracks for what he hoped would be, future album material. Over the next three months, James, songwriter Carol King, and JC worked on songs that were destined to become James Taylor’s Greatest Hits, after James signed and recorded the material with Warner Brothers Recording Studios. JC currently performs most of these Taylor hit songs that came from that experience.
