I am a dedicated guitarist. I do my homework and learn my parts. For me, playing solid rhythm is as important, and often more important, than just being able to do good solos. The rhythms to be part of the "pocket"/groove. When I solo, if the solo has a signature, I work to own it. For solos without signature riffs, I play what works for the song. While I can "shred", I only do so if it fits the tune.
I have played in several top-notice bands, including: funk horn bands, as well as smaller funk bands, classic rock bands (both cover and some that do originals), bands with a jazzy/smooth jazz textures, country rock bands, and even some acoustic stuff doing finger style and backing up singers.

EQUIPMENT
I have several guitars. I generally use Strats for funk , for a clean syncopated sound and feel. For rock I use with Strats of Gibson's - SG and Les Paul. I also have several amps that range from compact to large combo. And, I have several acoustics including Taylor , Santa Cruz, and Ovation guitars.
