Torn and Frayed is a blues-rock band hailing from the capital city of Baton Rouge, La. The band, consisting of guitarist/vocalist Ryan Harris, bassist/vocalist Paul Marina, and drummer Jeremy Miller, was formed in late 2004. The 3 members, having recently left their respective previous bands, were looking for a new outlet for their musical styles.



Deciding to jam together on a whim, the three old friends quickly found that they had the good chemistry they had been hoping to find. One night after their first jam together, they played at an open mic night and received a great response. They began going to various clubs and playing for anyone who would listen. They have begun making a name for themselves in the Louisiana music scene as one of the realest blues-rock bands the area has seen in a while.



Singer/guitarist Ryan Harris wears his classic rock influences on his sleeve, with solos sounding like the bastard child of Duane Allman, Steve Cropper, and Jimi Hendrix. The rhythm section of bassist Paul Marina and drummer Jeremy Miller lay down thick, nasty grooves so funky they almost force the audience to dance. Marina also has skills on the harmonica, which he deftly displays on several songs.



Aside from their original tunes, Torn and Frayed have a backlog of covers, ranging from the Beatles to Lee Dorsey. Their self-titled EP, recently released on their own Yellowhouse Records, contains 4 originals, one of which is a tasty instrumental jam, as evidenced by the title “Tasty Jam.”



With a full-length album expected this year, Torn and Frayed are establishing themselves as one of Louisiana’s best up-and-coming blues-rock bands. They make no pretensions and no excuses, just foot-stompin’, ass-shakin’ rock and roll.
