ABOUT

Hey there. My name's jon-e-boy (or Johnny) and I am currently seeking to restart my punk band, Teenage Schizoid, with some new, committed members. We were very active between 2014-15, playing numerous shows across multiple states and were generally well received. Because of life and the way things go I've had a hard time keeping members in the band who are as committed as I and for this reason I've decided to step out of my group of friends and start seeking musicians who will hopefully become friends but more importantly have similar music goals and aspirations. I have around 20-25 original songs written by me and some version of a recording for most of them. I'm not looking to join a new band but rather have people come in and continue what I started years ago. I know this will probably come off as cocky but...based off the experience I had in the past, I know that when the songs are practiced and played in front of people they are well liked. We played some pretty big shows, opening for bands like Slaughter and the Dogs, the Street Brats, Sloppy Seconds just to name a few. In 2013 we recorded a 5 song demo that we sold out of (I say "sold" but we were just giving them out for free) and we had a solid selection of merchandise that sold regularly.
I am very dedicated to my craft. I practice bass daily, usually for about an hour at a time, sometimes more. As a band member I would expect a similar practice level on your own as well as the commitment to meet up as a group 1-2 times a week. If you have any interest please reach out to me but as to not waste anybody's time here's a few precursors.
A.) Check out our band camp and be videos to get a feel for the style of music and what I have to offer, if you dig it, then that's obviously a huge step in the right direction.

B.) As mentioned before, commitment level is key in making this situation work with anybody.
C.) Generally I don't like to try telling anyone what to do, we are grown ups who make our own decisions and I respect that. That being said, problems with alcohol and drugs are not welcome. I've dealt with the disappointment of dealing with people who value partying over the band and it never works out. You wanna party? I support it, but the band, practice and shows come first.
D.) I want to work with people who are fun but also responsible. As serious as I want to take this, a band is nothing without fun but a band becomes less and less fun when one, or more, members are irresponsible and neglect their obligations. Real bands that play shows, have merch, have a practice spot and record have ways of funding themselves outside of the band, so you have to have a job that allows you some income to contribute. You have to have your own mode of transportation. You have to have your own equipment. It doesn't have to be top of the line, thousands of dollars worth, but at least for the time being you need your own stuff to play on in front of people.

If you feel you meet these criteria, I would be very interested in setting up some type of audition. Reach out to me, I'm ready to get this thing rolling again. Let's get famous.

Influences

I mean... Matt Freeman is like numbers 1, 2 and 3 and on my top 5 favorite punk bassists so definitely him. Scott Shiflett from Face To Face is absolutely amazing. If it wasn't for Mr. Freeman, Scott might be my pick for #1... Bryan Kienlen from the Bouncing Souls has an amazing sound and tone to his bass. He does a lot to give them the sound they do considering they only have one guitarist, he has a lot more space to kinda go off and do his thing and he fills it up nicely.

Rancid
Face To Face
Bouncing Souls
Ramones
Casualties
Bad Religion

Pretty much most run of the mill punk bands. No surprises here.
