ABOUT

I am primarily a singer/songwriter but I am currently playing bass, rhythm/lead guitar, lead and backing vocals (and occasionally the harmonica) for The Twanglers in Akron. We just release our EP "About Time" you can find it everywhere if you want to listen.

I am also the co-writer, producer, arranger, instrumentalist and vocals/background vocals on the songs "Cleveland Browns Sunday", "This is Next Year" and "Feeling Dangerous" all of which have been played on WKNR ESPN Cleveland numerous times. We released those as John Nicholas and Brad Johnson and they are available just about everywhere also.

I have a backlog of material that I would like to get recorded and I would have a band that can perform them live. I would categorizes the music I write as Roots Rock or Americana, but I have many influences and I do not like to pigeon hole myself into a genre. I like to provide the framework and let the band find the song- so if the band becomes funky or jazzy fine, if it leans outlaw country fine... You get the idea. Unless I have some melody or counter melody that is key to the song, play what you feel and let it grow and morph as time goes on.

The ideal musicians for me (because my day job is demanding) are professional and ready, flexible, write their own parts (I can write all of the parts, but what's the fun in that?), and do not need this as their main or regular source of income. If you have other musical commitments that is great, we can schedule shows and recording sessions around you. I only ask that you show up to them prepared- while this is not my main priority in life, it is important to me. I don't expect success, but I want to be ready should it happen. But mainly, I want to make good music with good people and good musicians.
