The Johnny Lectra Band is a fresh take on the Texas blues-rock vintage sounds of greats like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter, and ZZ Top. If you're looking for fiery creativity with a style crafted from some rich musical heritage, you might want to hang on for the ride with the Johnny Lectra Band. The group’s classic blues-rock music is energetic, fun and gets you up to dance. There’s no stopping the energy once Johnny “Lectra-fies” the room with his soul felt blues and red hot guitar. The band is fronted on vocals and lead guitar by Johnny “Lectra” Phillips. A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Johnny first picked up a guitar in 1970 and never looked back. The band was formed when Johnny’s mother was tragically murdered this last year, requiring him to relocate back to his hometown to handle the affairs of his family’s estate. It was through the painful crucible of testing that Johnny’s music was reborn. He calls it therapy, but the result is music with a passion and purpose that floods out of his soul with sincere conviction. Johnny believes that feeling good is the reward for surviving pain, and it shows every time he takes the stage.

Influences:

Stevie Ray Vaughan, too many 60s/70s Classic/Southern/Brit Rock artists to name, old blues players like the Kings (BB, Albert, Freddie). Also newer artists like Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Cross Canadian Ragweed, John Mayer, and even some "country" guys like Rascal Flatts and George Strait. Anything on the Texas music scene is of interest. Love the old popular vintage music like Roy Orbison, Van Morrison, Doors, Santana, etc. I like a good mix but enjoy playing SRV styles the best. I've got a strong relationship with the Lord so He's my biggest role model.

Equipment List:

I play a '95 PRS thru my own tricked-out amp rig. I have a practice building equipped with a sound system, Hartke Bass amp, DW maple drum set, and Roland RD-300 keyboard. I own enough equipment to make it easy for drummers, keyboardists, and bass guitarists to just come and practice without the need to contantly transport their own rigs back and forth.
