Drums.ABOUT
Relatively new group made up of four friends who got tired of "scene" stuff. Built from the ashes of older bands. Currently comprised of a bassist and three guitarists (with some keys), and everyone has vocal ability.
Loosely described as progressive rock: more in common with Pink Floyd and King Crimson than metal groups who use the term "prog".
We're mostly into the idea of being a recording project, and learning how to stream shows online. We've all played to empty venues on Tuesdays before and nobody has any desire to do that again.
The four of us are friends first and foremost. We place a lot of value in that and we want to protect it. We've all been in bands with people who didn't flow our way and we aren't interested in repeating those mistakes.
Influences are easy to get someone's attention but ultimately become worthless. Too many players try too hard to pay homage to their influences and end up becoming their influences. We try to keep listening to new things. Recent listens include The Joy Formidable, Black Country New Road, Khruangbin, Ringo Deathstarr... but everyone has a massive music collection, so don't take these as examples of "influences". We are each other's influences.
Long songs. Soft songs. Short songs. Loud songs. Sad songs. Oh, the sad songs...
We don't want Neil Peart or Danny Carey... does everybody ask for clones of those guys?
Have you ever heard the story about John Bonham getting pissy after hearing that Karen Carpenter beat him in some magazine poll? Bonham got upset about it and then claimed Karen couldn't handle playing any Zep tunes; Karen had no idea the poll existed and then she proceeded to play "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" just because she could.
Did you know that Karen Carpenter was a hell of a drummer?
