Julia, a native of Poughkeepsie, NY, started piano at age 5 and flute at age 10. She began competing in the flute at age 12, placing in regional and all-state bands and orchestras through grade school. She went on to win solos in the Arlington High School Marching Band, won the high school Concerto competition, and was active in her high school’s wind ensemble, philharmonic orchestra, choir, and woodwind quintet. She went on to study flute performance and music business at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam where she continued competing on the flute, was selected to perform in Masterclasses for world-renowned flutists, and played professional orchestra and band gigs. Since graduation, Julia has utilized her music industry expertise, employing at herself the Flute Center of New York in 2019, and has been working at Powell Flutes since 2020.
