ABOUT

I like doing original material and have written many songs over the years - mostly rock, some with a country flare, others with a touch of punk. I fly to Honolulu occasionally to play with guys I've known for decades (gulp!). As a longtime Kauai resident (now retired), I'd like to get a small band together for fun and possibly do some recording, or maybe an occasional gig if ever reaching the point where that could fly. Right now, aside from my occasional Oahu sojourn, I'm pretty much a one-man band recording demos in my DAW (Acoustica Mixcraft). That's all fine, but I'd really like to have input from others in the creative process. I think I function best as the bass player in a band but can jump over to rhythm guitar if that works better. I know - it's not easy finding like-minded musical collaborators, let alone putting an actual band together. But what the heck, you never know until you put yourself out there. I have a couple of my more recent original demos attached with this posting to give you an idea of what I'm about. Mahalo.... Ken D

Influences

Beatles, Beach Boys, The Who, Cream, EL&P and most everything the British Invasion threw our way. I loved the 70s Country scene. Don Williams and Merle Haggard come to mind. I embraced the New Wave (post-punk) sounds of the 80s when analog synths came to the forefront. I listen regularly Goth-genre bands like Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode and The Cure. For restful listening, ambient, new-age offerings from Anugama and Billow Observatory have a calming effect.
