PERRIN & SMITH BAND: In 2005 after the last gig of the blues band Southside Blues Coalition (SBC), ex-SBC band guitarist Yani Perrin and ex-SBC band keyboard player Burt Smith started jamming cover songs and old original materials together. In 2008 after a benefit gig in Lincoln (with a bunch of very talented fellas filling up the venue to about four hundred people), Yani & Burt decided to pursue an all original album and started recording their materials.

Influences

Our songs are in the Rock category, although our blues background is still evident. The variety of guitar and piano modes are coupled with mystical-metaphysical lyrics.

Members Of Band

Perrin & Smith Band consists of Yani Perrin on guitars, Roland guitar synth, bass and vocals, Burt Smith on piano, keyboard, bass and vocals. Bryan Perrin played drums and percussions on most of the first album’s songs and on background vocals. Bryan also contributed the bonus track ‘Back There Again’ on the ‘Prism of the Mind’ album while playing an acoustic guitar. Yani started playing for a rock cover band called Two-X-Two (2X2) and while in Colorado had a short stint with Vie Anglo Band. He then co-founded the cover band “Chain Re-Action” with drummer Mike Brierley, guitarist John Meister, singer Steve Heinz, and bassist Warren Sleuter. After consistently playing together in Nebraska for four years, Yani quit the music scene altogether. Then in 2000, he played for Mick & the Muddogs which became the Southside Blues Coalition in 2002. Yani recruited Burt Smith to join the blues band which played many gigs including the Hope Blues Festival (St. Libory 2003 & 2004) and South Loop Blues Fest (2004). Burt got his start playing classical piano music then later spent a lot of time in the 'One Man Garage Band' scene. He played for the Southside Blues Coalition and penned two of the band’s original blues songs. He has written several as yet unpublished 'serious' compositions as well as Blues tunes and the current Rock 'N Roll. After getting his first band experience with the 'Southside Blue Coalition' from 2003 to 2005, he has never looked back. Bryan played drums for several bands for four years and was one of the youngest drummer that won Lion’s Club Talent Show in 2000. He is a versatile musician and plays drums, percussions as well as guitars.
