ABOUT

Born in Florida to a Danish immigrant and a blue blooded American girl, his family moved to New England where his father was a fisherman. He lived with his grandparents and began singing in the church choir, where his voice was recognized by his reverend who was a formerly a professional tenor. Kristian realized the impact his voice had apon people after opening his eyes and performing the lord's prayer; seeing the silent tears flowing from faces he'd never met. Outside of church he sang shantys at local bars; stories of fisherman coming home from sea and other celtic and Scandinavian songs. He progressed as a songwriter and he developed a following. Through the years he joined several rock bands in which he won awards for his voice. He was nominated for the Boston music awards for best male vocalist but he never felt this genre fit him. He wanted adventure, so he traveled to Nicaragua and performed on television in Managua. He was photographed sitting around a table in the capital AK 47 in his arm; relaxing as if this war torn place was just another place to find stories for his songs. This experience awoke something in him, he found a freedom that only his ancestors had known. He began taking his music back to his father's homeland, where it was received like a son coming home to his family. Although his intentions were to bring music to the world; after starting a family in the USA it was at the dinner table he truly found home. However a divorce threw him back into performing. He was jailed because he fought for equal rights for fathers. Having lost everything he started to rebuild his life. Apon release from prison he began his work on "The Gravel Church" ; originally a 5 song EP that became a 16 song album. He wrote about his experiences in jail, starting over and how he found hope. "When your world is taken away", he says, "it's like watching a ship sail further and further away from you. You're far apart but if you put your feet in the water you're still connected and someday that ship will sail home." He is truly a artist who lives inside his music and in between worlds He is writing about a tomorrow that is coming whether we like it or not.
