ABOUT

Howdy. I'm the songwriter and instrumentalist for KUYRA, along with singer and lyricist Andrea Serrato, formerly of The Drizz. I'm a film composer who has been in a number of bands and wanted to get back to Indigenous roots. We play and sing in Rarámuri ra'icha, Purépecha, Spanish, and occasionally English. ;) I play bari uke, fretless bass and upright bass for performance and we record/program other stuff. We are preparing to record in April and would love to find a drummer/percussionist for recording and live performances.

Influences

Saodaj', Heilung, Wardruna, Kaleema, Lulacruza, Chancha via Circuito, Alash, Altai Kai, loads of Mexican music and South American music, esp. folk and electronic, cumbia and huapango.

"older" influences, aka bands I'll always love: oh you know, Led Zep, Beatles, NIN, Depeche Mode, Jane's Addiction, Jeff Buckley, Oingo Boingo. But I don't consider them influences per se, since everyone lists that kind of stuff.
