Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico

Known as one of the finest percussionist for over 35 years in Philadelphia. Foto Rodriguez is a bandleader, arranger and composer of Salsa music and his playing talents fuses the rhythm of his Puerto Rican heritage. At the age of 6 years he learned to play his first instrument the bongo in Puerto Rico. Foto moved to Philadelphia and in the 1960's his professional career as a timbalero took off playing with some local bands.

He perfected his skills in the1970's and formed his own band which he called "Charanga Unica" then later formed "Foto Rodriguez & his Orquesta La Unica" with the vocals of Jorge “Piro” Rivera & a compilation of great talented professional musicians out of the Philadelphia area. He than released several impressive recordings with more than10 CD’s featuring a great line of professional musicians out of Puerto Rico, Cuba and New York including Isidro Infante, Pupi Legarreta, Papo Pepin, Ray Colon, Tito Allen, Adalberto Santiago, Reynaldo Jorge, Nestor Sanchez and many more.
