ABOUT

Lindsay R. Orr, II

Unique. Classic. Progressive. Anointed. Gifted.… these are all words that are used to describe Lindsay R. Orr, II.

Lindsay, tenor, is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio where it was definitely recognizable that music was apart of him. His grandmother would say that he could dance before he could walk, and, sing before he could talk. Being born into a family full of basketball players, God truly had a different direction for him early on. By high school, Lindsay had began what would be his lifeline of musical conquests. Lindsay was the first high school student, male or female, to be in the school band and choir respectively all four years, through his vision and dedication he revamped a step dance team of 100 members which is still currently running today, was head of the student gospel choir and a Junior Olympian star track and field athlete. Although much of high school was great foundation for him, Lindsay wanted more and decided that going to school for music was the best route to take.

Lindsay first headed to Central State University where he received a scholarship for his service in singing in the Grammy nominated Central State University Chorus under the leadership of William H. Caldwell. During that tenure, Lindsay was able to perform with the Cincinnati Pops and Indianapolis Pops Orchestras, travel on two national tours, and record a international distributed album of “Porgy & Bess” with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.

Lindsay later matriculated to Syracuse University under a vocal music scholarship. Syracuse afforded him the ability to test his skills by becoming members of three choirs: The Syracuse Men’s Chorus, The University Singers, and B.C.C.E. Gospel Choir respectively. While in all three choirs, Lindsay became one of the premier soloists. He was also able to become the first student music director for B.C.C.E and under his supervision and direction, B.C.C.E. recorded their first album in over 25 years. Lindsay became the first black man to capture a leading role in Syracuse University’s Opera Studio in the production of Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute) as Tamino. Lindsay also was able to perform and work with the Syracuse community with other music groups, productions, and churches.

Lindsay was a former founding member of the gospel group, Simple Faith. Simple Faith drew its name from the fundamental truth given in the word of God in Hebrews 11:6, “For without faith it is impossible to please God.” If there is one thing this group desired to do, it is just that; to please the Fathers heart. Simple Faith had shared the same stage and/or opened for ministers of music whom they admire such as: Shirley Murdock, Byron Cage, Pastor Rodney Posey and Praise, Jonathan Dunn of Springfield, OH, Virtue, Tonex, Tarsha’ McMillan of Cleveland, Ohio, Lisa McClendon, Deborah Killings, Anthony Hamilton, Lindon Phillips and Hearts of Worship of Chicago, IL and Percy Bady. This is something that Lindsay has desired to do since a child; to minister before the nations

Throughout Lindsay’s career, he has had a solid record for being very dependable and a hard worker. In recent years, he have worked with an array of college choirs including Syracuse University’s B.C.C.E. Gospel Choir, Central State University’s Concert Chorale, and was a clinician for The University of Cincinnati’s Ujima Gospel Choir. He has also worked with many other high school and community choirs as well.

Lindsay’s alumni affiliations includes: being a Professional Performing Artist, Central State University Concert Chorale, Syracuse University Singers, B.C.C.E. of Syracuse University, Menace II Society
