ABOUT

I like to experiment with new sounds & new combinations. I want to make room for others to express on their instruments and with their vocals. I love to do vocal harmony. What possibilities there are for individuals who've learned how to yield to each other and combine their creative energies!

Besides sax, I also play a variety of flutes and whistles from Ireland, India, the Middle East, Native American; electric and acoustic guitar (not lead); bowed zither;... I will try to play anything! However, I don't want my whistles to be pegged as Celtic (or Appalachian) only - I can make their sounds fit in into nearly any kind of music to give it texture.

RECORDINGS: In 1999 I played pennywhistle on an artist's CD and disguised it as an Indian flute.
In 2009, I recorded an original song with an eclectic group of individuals who collaborated in writing the song. I played alto sax and sang harmony. In March of 2012, the same group reunited and recorded two songs. I played 4 solos on alto sax on one song, and Low-D whistle on the other.

GIGS: In the 90's, I played with a band for 6 years, doing lead vocals and adding guitar, whistles, and sax. Since 2009, I have played weekly with a unique, cross-racial worship band, experimenting in various styles and occasional original music. Of particular interest is when we have played for churches of very dissimilar backgrounds and racial/cultural make-ups. In 2009, the band I recorded with played a convention gig with an attendance of 350, doing original music.
