ABOUT

Currently the lead singer of the band Mallard Blue (@MallardBlueBand on socials) .
We're looking for soloists to play with us. We have excellent guest soloists, but if we want to play regularly, we need a dedicated instrumentalist so we can commit to more gigs.
We have people asking us to play very frequently (like a few times a month). As a soloist, you would add a ton of value to our gigs and allow us to book more. We split the pay equally.
Our clientele are pubs, coffee shops, breweries, wineries, possibly weddings, etc.
I do play keyboard and it's my intention to beef up my keyboard-while-singing-skills. Right now, I've been focusing on singing only, which has helped the vocal portion of the band.
We began in 2019. March 2020 was our first gig, the day before COVID-19 shut everything down. We've stuck it out over the years and have made it to play-live status.
We haven't recorded an album yet, but it's on the goals list.

Influences

For the band, we're huge fans of Bossa Nova, American Standards and funky cross-genre songs. Currently, we're jazz guitar, upright bass, drums and sax/flute depending on who's in town.

For Hannah, the lead singer:
Ella Fitzgerald is a huge influence. Nina Simone, Norah Jones, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, and my vocal coach Emm Gryner (Canadian indie pop and previous background singer for David Bowie in the '00s).
I can imitate most styles. I love singing everything from Harry Warren to Led Zeppelin.

EQUIPMENT

The band has a whole setup enough to play small to medium (50 to 100 people) venues unassisted.
Larger venues would require a sound engineer or inhouse equipment.

Hannah has a Roland keyboard, a small amp, and Zoom H6 recorder, cords, a Shure M-58 mic. Basic stuff.
We have dedicated practice space and our bassist has a whole sound system.
