Influences
My drumming inspiration comes from a lot of places, but I was influenced early on by Jeff Porcaro (Toto), Steve Smith (Journey), Neil Peart (Rush). I always loved the power and simplicity of Phil Rudd (AC-DC).
Simon Kirk (Bad Co), Danny Seraphine (Chicago), Denny Carmassi (Heart), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Ian Paice (Deep Purple) crafted amazing drum parts, without which many classic songs just wouldn't be the same. I've got a pair of Tommy Aldrich (Whitesnake, Black Oak Arkansas) Signature Drums Sticks that I got from Tommy at a Clinic In Simi Valley. They have been in every car I've owned since the 80's. (They help me stay calm in LA Traffic).
I'm a big fan of Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog), Daniel Adair (Nickelback, 3 Doors Down), Greg Upchurch (3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd), Scott Phillips (Creed, Alter Bridge), Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver, GNR, The Cult). Recently, I had the chance to meet Bobby Jarzombek (Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach) who has seriously influenced the way I think about double bass!
