Hi. I'm 2 years back from my 25 year sabbatical from music. I USED to do the heavy rock covers (ELP, Kansas, Van Halen, Styxx, ZZ Top, Boston, Tull, Zep, Aerosmith, Genesis, Floyd, Toto, Dixie Dregs, Skynyrd, Mountain, Heart, James Gang, Hendrix, Trower, SRV and a mixed bag of many others) in the club scenes in and around Fairfield County.
These days I've been in a couple bands and I'm hitting all the jams 4 nights a week getting the feels and the chops back and they're now back better than ever. I'm lucky to have found a few scenes with some VERY cool players that inspire me. But, most of them are either in the house band or are already out doing their thing in a group or groups. I'm getting some sub gigs but it's just not enough; I want to play a LOT! Got good equipment and a good bottomy sound that isn't muddy. And the bottom never leaves.
My goal is to be in an established, gigging, tight but also spontaneous band living in the pocket with a cool drummer that grooves and repeats and we'd crank it up appropriately as the tunes build. There would always be a direction provided by the band leader. I want to be in the back all grooving and comfortable, listening to the soloists, feeling the rhythm, watching the people listen, tap their feet and dance and feeling like I'm doing my part properly, professionally and tastefully. That would be my perfect situation and outlet for musical expression.
The music could be funky, bluesy, rock, R&B, soul, some modern country and some latin and would be popular and/or recognizable. I don't mind playing many of the standards, in fact, I'd enjoy most of them because we'd be doing them well. But that's not ALL we'd do. Originals would be great! And I'd contribute. The instruments would be guitar, keys, hopefully sax, drums and me on bass and the vocals would be handled by a couple of the aforementioned players. Gotta keep the payroll down so we can all make some cash!
I'm out of Ridgefield, CT and would like to stay within a one hour radius for gigs but preferably 45 minutes or less if at all possible; day gig, you know. I'm willing to rehearse because if I'm lucky enough to find what I'm looking for it would only be even more fun for me. I don't really sing nor do I read music but I know how to play with people, show up, be in tune and not be drunk.
Thanks for reading about my dream. I know it's more of a book than an ad but now you know what you need to know. All that's left to do next is PLAY!
