Seeking a PIANIST and a CELLIST for hire for 'Nellie/Nellie,' a new chamber opera/theatre piece in development, scheduled to as part of the Philadelphia FringeArts Festival in September 2014.

TIME COMMITMENT
Two, 3 hour rehearsals during the period of 9/2-9/6
Technical rehearsal 7pm-11pm on 9/9
Performances 7:30pm-9pm from 9/10-9/13

LOCATION
Performance venue is Broad Street Ministry, 315 S. Broad St., Philadelphia
Rehearsal space in TBD location in Philadelphia.

The piece takes as its subject an 1887 journalistic exposé titled Ten Days in a Mad-House. While a reporter for the New York World in 1887, investigative journalist Nellie Bly feigned insanity to be admitted to the Women's Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell's Island, now Roosevelt Island in New York's East River. She was 23. Nellie studied the institution from the inside out for ten days before publishing her accounts of the appalling treatment of the patients inside.
