This is how THE RED RYDER BAND is being described on "Music Row" in Nashville. Currently working with BMG Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing and EMI Publishing Red Ryder is combining their own original songs with songs from some of Nashville's best writers to produce their unique "High Energy" country sound.
Red Ryder started like every other band paying their dues on the club circuit performing mostly "Top 40" country covers. Then a few years back the band was asked to open for and back up CMA Hall of Fame artist, Hank Thompson. That was a defining moment for the band because over the next couple of years Red Ryder found itself on the concert stage far more than the club stage until it became abundantly clear, they needed to direct 100 percent of their energies towards original music and the concert stage.
Around this same time Country Music Association (CMA) board member and Disc Jockey of the Year, Joe Wade Formacola offered to sponsor Ned Doerr for membership in to the CMA, as an artist member, opening the doors of Nashville’s music row to Ned and the band.
Through the CMA Ned met and befriended producer and bassist, Dave Pomeroy. Dave has been instrumental in helping Red Ryder established relationships with BMG, Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Universal Music Group, giving the band access to some of Nashville’s finest writers. In addition Dave has voiced his interest in producing a Red Ryder CD, something the band is very excited about and would love to do!
In 2006 Ned also connected with artist, songwriter and producer, Judy Rodman. He was a fan from Judy’s solo days and was interested in possibly recording a re-make of Judy’s hit “He Thinks She’ll Marry”. Judy was very open to the idea and graciously sent Red Ryder that song, as well as others for the band to check out.
Not only have all of these alliances given Red Ryder the opportunity to perform some great songs from top writers it has also helped, through example, improve the bands own songwriting skills to produce a great catalog of tunes.
