New-to-Louisville mid-40’s lead guitarist SEEKS RHYTHM GUITARIST/LEAD VOCALIST to partner with in forming Classic/Blues/Southern/Roots Rock act. Here’s my pitch:
• My “Trio”: I’ve spent the last several months in my studio perfecting the sequencing of high quality drum and bass parts for my Boss DR-880 sound module [MP3 attached]. I burn the tracks to CD and they sound quite realistic through my PA. PLEASE don’t be put off by the idea of playing with recorded backing tracks. I’ve heard many other acts do it -- it sounds good, it works and it’s very convenient. With the hassle of scheduling rehearsals for a “full” band with a bassist, drummer, etc., I submit that any sonic tradeoff between live bass and drums versus the convenience of CD backing tracks could be well worth it. IF THINGS CLICK, I'D MORE THAN WELCOME EVENTUALLY REPLACING THE RECORDED BASS/DRUMS TRACKS WITH LIVE PLAYERS -- AGAIN, I'M JUST LOOKING FOR A CONVENIENT WAY TO GET STARTED WITH THE RIGHT PARTNER.
• Just Add RHYTHM AND VOCALS: I want to work with a RHYTHM GUITARIST (ideally acoustic and electric)/LEAD VOCALIST to solidify a set list, work out the tunes and then gig. I envision pursuing a “ground up” project with a like-minded “co-founder” that might take some start-up time to get off the ground. If you’re looking for an established, ready-to-gig-next-Friday act to jump into, I ain’t it.
• Music: The music I’d like to play consists of Blues, Southern Rock, Classic Rock, Roots Rock, and (lesser so) Outlaw Country and Rockabilly/Oldies. See “Influences” tab.
• I’m NOT Interested In: Faking it (playing watered-down versions of songs) or doing originals
• Ready To Go, But Patiently: I have a complete PA system (JBL mains, monitors, EV mics, Mackie board, Crown amp and assorted rack processors – more than enough for medium clubs) and a small rehearsal space. I don’t need to play for money, and my day job and family obligations would limit my time to 1-2 regularly scheduled rehearsals per week and 1- 2 gigs per month. However, I most certainly do want to regularly play club and party gigs again (it’s been a few years) – I just want to put in the necessary time to get everything down tight before performing.
