ABOUT

Richard has played in various bands since 1970. A saxophone performance major at Houston Baptist University, he plays bass, guitar, and woodwinds in several bands in addition to freelance performing, teaching, and studio work. As a founding member of the Christian Progressive Rock band ArkAngel (check be for material), he played bass, flute, sax and keyboards until relocating to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, Richard played keyboards in an acoustic-driven band as well as did some studio work. Throughout his musical career, Richard played in various worship bands including leading music for Trinity Presbyterian in Lakeland, Florida and Redeemer Presbyterian in Lakeland. While serving there, Richard arranged and compiled several hundred charts for worship songs used by the bands at both Trinity and Redeemer.

After moving to central Florida in 1988, Richard played sax and keyboards with oldies band Willie Metts and the Canadian Rouges. With the Rouges, Richard’s job was second keyboards, sax, and flute, as well as covering horn and string parts for covers of Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Ides of March, Elvis, and others. After the Rouges, Richard played keyboards and woodwinds for Central Florida-based Red Pepper Rhythm Company a top 40/classic rock show band, and Buck Hummer and the Pickups, a roots and country rock band, and helped start an 80s-era (Cars, Jimmy Buffet, Three Doors Down, etc.) party band, Quitin’ Time.

Since returning to Texas, Richard can often be heard in Austin playing keys and running sound at Christ the King Presbyterian Church, and with the eclectic original material Yabanada Blues/World/Progressive band playing keys, sax, clarinet, and flute (See links below).
