I'm currently playing in a modern rock cover band called LAST CHANCE. www.lastchanceroxx.com - myspace.com/lastchancemusicva and recently split-up 80's metal band REIGN. Other former bands are "Wild Oates"(blues/classic rock), "Blackmail"(in the late 80's early 90's Hard Rock touring band), Onyx, Revolver, Myron Clur, etc. etc... I can't remember all of them. I'm interested in possibly getting involved in recording/studio work, an original project or a smaller scale gigging project with professional, like minded musicians. At this point in my life I'm not interested in joining a "classic" rock band or playing the animal circuits (Moose, Elks, Eagles),, I don't even like the term "classic rock" , even though I love a lot of older rock music. I'm just simply sick of how most bands that cover that category revert back to the same old beat-to-death music that was being played in clubs 20 some years ago and that in most cases, I played when they were new. Besides that,, isn't the term "Classic Rock" the same as what our parents referred to as "oldies but goodies" ?? .. I prefer playing with musicians that are interested in making the band sound good as a whole unit. In regards to cover music, I'm interested in jamming with/meeting musicians that are capable of learning material fast / practicing on their own time, so that practice is reserved for "fine tuning" material rather than having to waste rehearsal time while other members are trying to learn the music. An exception to this would be working on original material. Not interested in ego trips and drama. I'm married, work a full time job and am not interested in quitting my job to play music full time. I pretty much past the dreams of rock-stardom but I am interested in making the best possible music I can on a limited basis. I'm moderately committed to playing 2 or 3 weekends a month. I'm available to rehearse once or twice a week. I like to have a drink every once in a while like any one else, but if you're one of those musicians that can't control their alcohol or drug intake while rehearsing or performing or think it's your personal party while trying to get something accomplished as a band,, or have the illusion that you perform better when you're trashed. I've been down that road too many times so don't waste my time.

Influences:

I have a pretty wide variety of musical taste and am pretty much open to most music except, Rap/hip-hop, country, southern(unless it's heavy), old Zepplin covers, anything Lynyrd Skynrd, or any other old music that has been done to death by all the other cover bands. I have all the major rock influences that most other rock musicians have, Zepplin., Rush, Aerosmith, Hendrix, Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, whatever... I prefer melodic heavy music with good vocals and some (not all) screaming, modern rock, edgy pop music, progressive or alternative rock but am a little to old for "hardcore". I prefer to leave that to the kids. I am an 80's child at heart. At this time my main influences are newer, modern bands, Breaking Benjamin, Foo Fighters, Shinedown, Godsmack, Sixx AM, Three Days Grace, 12 Stones, 3 Doors Down, Seether, STP, Alice in Chains etc. I enjoy and prefer the challenges of playing modern sounding rock music, using different tones and tunings, but am open to just about any style and type of music, if done well.
