ABOUT

I started playing bass in 66 in early 9th grade and formed talented 3 piece that practiced daily 3-4 hours and within 1 1/2 years we were opening up for such major acts as Van Morrison, Them, MC 5, Tommy Bolin his Band Zypher, as well as his later band Energy in the late 60s and early 70s mostly playing covers, rearrangements and original Blues and Blues-Rock music and did our own tours through the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska in the Band MoonFire for almost 9 years until Disco really hit in 73. I then went to Medical School where I took a couple years off from playing, but resumed playing once I graduated with a few different local bands in Fairfield , Iowa… the most notable being the Los Armadillo band and L. Armadillo. I built a high quality recording studio in the basement of our home( see Photo) . I intended to do a lot of recording work with my original drummer from MoonFire who’d by now done extensive recording work at studios in LA with all the best Musicians on the Planet and he had been the Dean of Electonic Music at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts . But unfortunately he started losing his memory and had to step down about 3 years ago and we never completed our dreams of recording sessions together again.

I just moved out to Oregon this past winter of 2022 and would like to connect with at least a singer, guitarist and drummer to play, record and have fun! Hopefully that will lead to gigging!! I have played hundreds of gigs.

Influences

I have definitely been influenced by the bass playing ofJack Bruce when he played with Cream and John McLaughlin a few years later. The Jeff Beck Band’s bassist Ronnie Wood also had a profound way on the way I played and tones I liked. Of course, Jaco had a profound effect on me, but so did bassists from other bands such as Yes, the Dead, Bruce Hornsby, Tribal Tech, Tommy Shannon- bassist for Johnny Winter and Stevie RayVaughn, and Bonnie Raitt’s bassist for about the last 25 years- Hutch Hutchinson.
